Speaking from Experience

Managing to Lead

Most school administrators were promoted because they could manage schools. The most effective leaders, however, understand that their greatest responsibility isn't simply keeping the school running—it's developing the people who make the school thrive. Managing to Lead is a practical leadership experience that helps administrators shift from reacting to daily demands to intentionally growing teachers, staff, and future leaders. Participants will learn how to build a Leadership Tree, structure a leadership-centered day, and move beyond supervision to create a culture where leadership is multiplied throughout the school.

The GROW Framework

G – Grow Yourself
Leadership begins with you. Commit to continuous learning, reflection, and modeling the behaviors you expect from others.

R – Recognize Leaders
Identify the strengths and leadership potential of teachers, staff, and students. Every school has future leaders waiting to be developed.

O – Open Opportunities
Create meaningful leadership experiences that allow others to lead, make decisions, and expand their influence.

W – Water the Leadership Tree
Invest in people consistently through coaching, encouragement, feedback, and intentional development so leadership continues to grow long after you're gone.

Managers maintain schools. Leaders grow people.

The Only One in the Room

What happens when you're the only one in the room who looks like you, thinks like you, or brings a different perspective? Too often, people believe success requires changing who they are to fit the environment. The Only One in the Room challenges that idea by equipping participants with practical strategies to lead with confidence, build meaningful influence, and remain authentic in any space.

Built around the ACT Framework, this keynote and workshop empowers participants to:

  • Acknowledge who they are, the realities of the room, and the value they bring.

  • Create opportunities, relationships, and environments where they and others can succeed.

  • Thrive by leading with authenticity, resilience, and purpose without compromising their identity.

Whether you're an educator, administrator, student, or organizational leader, this experience will help you move beyond simply having a seat at the table to making a lasting impact once you're there.

The room shouldn't change who you are. Your presence should change the room.

A New Approach to School Discipline

Consequences are consistent, fair, and applicable. Accountability -Students must show a willingness to accept accountability and a clarity of the offense. Restoration-Any harm or disruption done must be followed up with restoration. Expectations - How do we avoid situations like this and understand how to move forward.
